Initially designed to complement my round-tail twin fins and address the shortcomings of that design, these boards offer a refined alternative.

They feature similar contours but include significantly more rocker and are ideally ridden slightly narrower than the round-tail twin for improved rail-to-rail transitions. This board is slimmer overall, with a more pointed nose, a gun-like tail curve, a full foil, and boxier rails. It serves as a step-up equivalent for someone accustomed to a round-tail twin, but it can also function as a higher-performance mid-length for those transitioning from a shortboard or smaller hybrid designs.

In my view, these are a highly capable and versatile design, allowing riders to explore the potential of a more hybrid shape in high-quality surf or hollow waves. I often recommend them to older surfers who have a solid surfing background, surf well once on their feet, but need extra help catching waves. They’re also a great choice for younger riders who can only own a few boards but want a versatile travel board that doubles as an excellent everyday option.
